A caiman is a type of crocodile. There are many different types of caimans.

Some caimans grow to be about five feet like the dwarf caiman.

Some can grow to be about eight to ten feet long like the spectacled caiman. A spectacled caiman is very mean. A spectacled caiman got this name because it has a bony ridge between its eyes. It looks like it is wearing a pair of glasses, or spectacles. A spectacled caiman can live in freshwater or saltwater.

Another type of caiman is called the black caiman. It is the largest type of caiman. It can grow up to 15 feet long! The black caiman lives in South America.
