A desert is a landform made up of very dry land.

There are four main things that make a desert. The first thing is very dry air. The second thing is very little rain. If there is less than 10 inches of rainfall in a year, the land is considered a desert. The third thing is very high temperatures. The fourth thing is wind.

There are very few things that can live in the desert because it is so dry. Some deserts donít have any plants at all. Cactus plants can be found in the desert. In Australia there are also daisy plants in the desert.

The ground cover in a desert is usually sand. Some animals that can live in the desert are reptiles, camels, and some rabbits. Deserts have spots of water and plant life. This is called an oasis in the desert.

The Sahara Desert, located on the continent of Africa, is a well known desert.
