Hank Aaron was born in Mobile, Alabama. Hank went to a high school that did not have a baseball team. He played softball instead.

Hank Aaron began playing baseball for the Negro League when he was 18 years old. Next, for two years, he played baseball in the Minor Leagues. In 1954, Aaron started playing in the Major League.

Hank Aaron played for the Milwaukee Braves. The Milwaukee Braves moved to Atlanta. So did Aaron. He played for the Atlanta Braves baseball team for 21 years.

Hank Aaron is one of America’s best baseball players. In 1974, Aaron broke Babe Ruth’s home run record. Hank Aaron hit his 715th home run! Hank Aaron held this record for 33 years. Hank Aaron was voted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1982.

Aaron retired from baseball in 1976 after hitting a total of 755 home runs. After retiring from baseball, he helped run the Atlanta Braves. Aaron was in charge of finding new players for the Braves.

Hank Aaron started a group to help children be successful. He is a big supporter of civil rights for everyone.

In 2002, Hank Aaron was given the Presidential Medal of Freedom. This is the highest award given to American citizens.
