The bobcat is found in North America. It lives in forests, mountains and deserts. It can be very hard to find in the wild.

It looks like a pet cat. A bobcat has a short, stubby tail. The tip of the tail is black. It has pointed ears. The color of its fur can be tan or brown. It has spots. Sometimes it can have dark stripes.

The bobcat is a good hunter. It eats small animals. It can quietly stalk an animal and is very fast to attack it. A bobcat has excellent hearing, sight, and sense of smell. It is a good swimmer and climber, too.

The female has a litter of three babies (kits). The babies are born in a den. The den may be in a log or in the brush.
