An apartment is a home inside a building. There can be many apartments in one building. The number of rooms in each apartment can be one or many.
The rooms are all on the same floor. The more bedrooms there are, the more people that can live there. Some of these homes have a front and back door. All of the mailboxes are in one spot. The mail for each apartment is dropped into the box.
The person who lives in the apartment does not own it. The person pays rent to the owner of the building. When the renter moves, the apartment is not sold. The owner of the building has to find a new person to live there and pay rent.
In England, an apartment is called a flat. A studio apartment is a one-room home. Apartments are found all over the world.
