To find a banana plant, you will need to visit South America or any country where it is hot all the time. The banana plant grows tall like a tree, but it is not really a tree. It does not have a wood-like trunk. It does have a strong, green stem.
Most ripe banana fruits have yellow skins. Some other kinds of bananas have red skins, but inside, the fruit you eat is white and soft. Bananas grow upside down. A bunch of bananas looks like a baseball glove, so it is called a hand of fruit. When the fruit is green, the hands are picked. They will ripen, turning yellow, on the way to the cooler northern states.
People like bananas to eat. So do monkeys! This fruit is good for you. It is easy to peel and eat.
