The Amazon River is one of the largest rivers in the world. It is sometimes called the Ocean River. The river is so big and wide that huge ships can travel on it.

The Amazon River runs through all parts of Brazil, Peru, and Venezuela. Some parts of the river have never been explored. Water flows through the river at an average of 20 million gallons (75 million liters) per second.

The Amazon is also a huge rainforest. It covers most of Brazil. It is one of the world’s oldest rainforests. Some of the most exotic animals live there. You can find some of the world’s largest animals there, too. The anaconda, a large snake, and the giant catfish both make their homes only in the Amazon.
