The angel shark has a flat body. Its fins look like wings. That is why it is called an angel shark. The angel shark is tan with brown marks. It is the color of sand. It lives on the bottom of the ocean. The angel shark hides on the bottom by putting sand all over itself.

The angel shark sleeps during the day. It hunts at night. When a fish or squid swims near, the shark pops up and grabs it. The angel shark has small, sharp teeth.

The angel shark is not dangerous to people. However, it will bite if someone steps on it. It is a slow swimmer.

The angel shark is an endangered animal. Too many people catch it for food.
